Description

SPECIALIST & BARBEL RODS

Traditional Feel. Modern Specialist Performance.

Five models make up the Spirit Specialist and Spirit Barbel family—built to cover Barbel, Tench, Chub, Bream and Perch with a clean, traditional feel, but with thoroughly modern blank design at the core. High-quality Japanese Toray 40T carbons are used to create blanks that feel sensibly light, slim and responsive, improving balance in the hand and sharpening bite detection when you’re fishing with an Avon top and watching for those small, telling plucks that often precede a proper take.

As with the Seeker carp range, the finish is deliberately honest. The blanks carry a Perdurable finish, meaning we don’t rely on paints or lacquers to disguise the carbon. Instead, the blank is finished properly so the quality of the material and workmanship remains visible and stays looking right after season upon season of use—clean, natural and built to last.

The range is designed to cover modern specimen hunting in the widest sense. From intimate rivers where you’re roving light and casting tight to cover, through to heavier water where flow and pressure demand a more authoritative tool—tidal reaches, powerful weir pools and flood conditions—and on to snaggy lakes where control matters more than comfort. They’re equally at home when you need a progressive blank to cushion lunges at close quarters, or when you’re stepping back into long-range feeder fishing on large gravel pits, where keeping a rod light, responsive and stable in the rests makes all-day fishing more enjoyable and more effective.

To match the way these rods are used, we’ve stayed with natural full cork handles for secure grip and feedback in cold, wet conditions—helping maintain controlled pressure when powerful fish surge under the rod tip. Guides are ceramic RS Lined for an excellent compromise between lightweight feel and long-term durability in real river conditions, particularly where braided lines and weed/particles can accelerate ring wear. Guide sizes and spacing are carefully set to follow the curve closely and minimise impact on the blank, keeping the rod working as intended rather than feeling held back.

All rods are supplied with an Avon top section, with the option to buy a separate quiver top section for finer fishing in winter or for shy-biting species.
