SPECIALIST & BARBEL RODS
Precision Bite Detection. Built for Every Flow.
We offer a full range of Specialist Quiver Tips from responsive 1oz glass through to powerful 8oz carbon, designed to cover everything from delicate stillwater work to demanding river feeder fishing.
Every tip is finished with a long white painted section and an orange sight bob, giving maximum visibility in both day and night—so the smallest pluck, tremor or drop-back is easy to read in bright glare, low light, or under a headtorch.
On stillwaters, quiver tips are all about reading subtle indications and keeping resistance to an absolute minimum. Lighter glass tips excel here because they load progressively, show tiny liners and shy bites clearly, and remain forgiving when fish move slowly or when you’re fishing short hooklengths and lighter hook patterns. Step up into carbon when you need a cleaner, faster recovery and a firmer “signal” through the tip—ideal when fishing at range, punching a method or cage feeder into a breeze, or when undertow and tow start to mask delicate movement. Carbon’s extra stiffness also helps keep the tip stable when using heavier feeders or tighter line angles, so what you see is more “bite” and less “environment”.
On rivers, tip choice is primarily about holding bottom and controlling the line. As flow increases, or as feeder weight rises, you need a tip that won’t constantly pull over and sit pinned downstream. This is where carbon comes into its own. The higher the current, the heavier the feeder, and the more you’re locking down line to maintain a straight connection, the stronger a carbon tip helps you maintain a readable working curve. For steadier, slower rivers—or when you’re deliberately fishing with a gentler line angle to avoid spooking fish—glass can still be very effective at the lighter weights, offering excellent bite registration when fish are “plucking” at baits rather than pulling decisively.
Guide sizing is matched to real-world conditions. The standard tips up to 4oz carbon feature ‘S’-Lite quiver tip guides, while the 5, 6 and 8oz tips step up in guide size to suit heavier lines and to better cope with the increased likelihood of debris when the river carries extra water, or when it is running high or in flood conditions. This helps keep the line running cleanly and preserves bite detection for longer, even when leaves, weed and silt are moving through. Suitable for mono or braid.

Full coverage from 1oz glass to 8oz carbon for virtually any feeder scenario.
High-visibility finish: long white painted section with orange sight bob for maximum bite visibility day and night.
Glass options for maximum sensitivity and progressive loading on stillwaters and gentler flows.
Carbon options for stability, faster recovery, and control in wind, at a distance, and in stronger currents.
Guide sizing increases with tip rating, optimised for heavier lines and improved performance when rivers carry extra flow, debris, or floodwater.

Recommendations
Stillwater – 1–2oz glass
The first choice for natural bite indication with lighter feeders, short-to-medium range work, and shy-biting species. Brilliant for clear “tremors” and liners without the tip feeling over-stiff.
Stillwater – 2½–4oz carbon
Ideal when distance, wind, tow, or a heavier feeder starts to overwhelm glass. Carbon keeps the tip composed and readable, especially with tighter line angles and longer casts.
River – 2½–4oz carbon
A strong all-round river choice for moderate flow and typical cage feeders—enough backbone to resist the current while still offering clear bite registration.
River – 5–8oz carbon
Built for heavier feeders, stronger flow, and situations where you must “pin” the rig and maintain a direct connection. The larger guides help manage heavier line and keep debris from interfering with the working section.
