The Hi-‘S’ Barbel Feeder rods bring our proven hollow carbon quiver tip technology into the specialist river arena, combining refined bite indication with the power, balance and fish-playing control expected from Hi-‘S’. Built using very low-resin 40T Japanese carbon, the blanks remain light, crisp and responsive, while retaining the strength needed for barbel, chub and other powerful river species on medium to large rivers.
The use of hollow carbon quiver tips is central to the performance of these rods. They offer the sensitivity needed to read bites clearly, even in challenging flow conditions, while also helping resist the current more naturally than softer solid tips. This gives improved indication, better stability and greater confidence when fishing feeders in pace, depth or heavy water, helping to eliminate false bites caused by flow, debris or excessive tip movement.
Designed for serious specialist anglers, the range is also highly relevant to match anglers fishing venues such as the Trent, Severn and Wye, where barbel often feature heavily in match-winning weights. Accurate presentation, positive bite detection and the ability to control hard-fighting fish are all vital in these situations, and the Hi-‘S’ Barbel Feeder rods are built with exactly that in mind.
The build combines traditional and modern elements, with cork and EVA handles for comfort and durability, plus a Fuji lock-down reel seat to suit both specialist and match anglers. Single-leg guides are used to help keep weight off the blank and preserve the crisp, responsive action, making the rods comfortable to fish with over long sessions while retaining excellent casting and playing performance.
Interchangeable hollow carbon quiver tips are available in various strengths up to 5oz, finished with highly visible orange and white paint for easy detection in different light and flow conditions. Available in three models, including powerful S.U. versions for stronger flows and demanding conditions, the range gives anglers precision, strength and refined presentation in a true Hi-‘S’ feeder rod.
