Description
SPOD, SPM & MARKER RODS
Maximum Feel. Accurate Mapping.
Built from the same Seeker materials and finished with the same ultra-modern black aesthetic, the Launcher tools are designed for anglers who want dedicated performance without carrying half the garage to the lake. High quality carbons keep the blanks lighter and more responsive than you’d expect from utility rods, with thin, efficient tip diameters that help them load cleanly and recover quickly—so they cast straighter, feel less “clubby” after repeated work, and stay more accurate when you’re trying to hit a dinner plate rather than simply empty a bucket.
These rods use a DNPS-20 seat for comfort during repeated casting and feature work, chosen not only for feel in the hand but also because it will fit all Big Pit reels and even those with outsize reel feet. We offer both 12’ and 13’ models to complement the carp rods so your casting remains consistent across the set. While both lengths are designed to feel balanced and predictable, the 13’ models will ultimately cast further than the 12’ models thanks to the wider casting arc and extra leverage—especially noticeable when you’re regularly pushing range or working heavier payloads.
Although they share the same family DNA, the Spod and SPM models are built for different jobs. Launcher Spod rods are the heavier-action tools, designed for bigger payloads and more extreme ranges when you’re repeatedly sending large spods and heavier mixes. Launcher SPM rods sit a touch lighter with more responsive tips, making them better for accuracy at shorter to medium distances and for lighter Spombs and spods, particularly when you’re topping up regularly and want clean, repeatable casting without forcing the blank.
The SPMs also make great marker rods in their own right when travelling light. All Launcher and Searcher models feature 1’ and 2’ depth marks, making them genuinely useful as an impromptu feature tool in addition to their primary job.
Modern line choice can make a bigger difference than most anglers expect. For spodding and Spombs, many anglers now favour lighter, pre-stretched modern mainlines in preference to thin braid, often paired with a braided leader—offering a great balance of control and reliability. These lines are less prone to wind knots and less likely to be dragged by cross winds, which can pull spods off line and spread bait too widely. With today’s low-stretch, pre-stretched lines you still maintain clip accuracy and repeatability.
Guide options and why they matter
Standard models use black SeaGuide TDG guides (Steel Lined). They look ultra-modern and are a little lighter on the blank, which helps keep recovery crisp and reduces fatigue during long baiting sessions. The trade-off is that they can wear more quickly than ceramic-lined guides when subjected to heavy, repetitive abrasion—particularly with braided mainlines and leaders. For that reason we also offer Braid Friendly versions built with black SeaGuide BXTRSG guides (RS Lined). Ceramic liners are harder wearing, making them the most sensible long-term choice for frequent spodding and marker work.

Comfort for Repeated Casting
Key Features
Constructed using high-quality Seeker carbons with slim, responsive tip sections, fitted with DNPS-20 reel seats for comfort and compatibility with big pit reels, and available in Spod and SPM models with TDG (Steel Lined) or BXTRSG (RS Lined) guide options for durability and consistent performance.
Built from Seeker material for lighter, more responsive utility rods with cleaner recovery
DNPS-20 seat for comfort and secure fitting with all Big Pit reels, including outsize reel feet
12’ and 13’ options to complement carp rods and keep casting rhythm consistent (13’ ultimately casts further due to wider arc)
Two distinct actions: Launcher Spod (heavier for payloads/extreme range) and Launcher SPM (more responsive for accuracy and lighter Spombs/spods)
1’ and 2’ depth marks for marker-style use when travelling light
Two guide options: TDG (Steel Lined) or Braid Friendly BXTRSG (RS Lined)
Builds
All models are available in TDG (Steel Lined) or Braid Friendly (BXTRSG RS Lined). If braid/fluoro is part of your fishing—or you regularly drag weed and fine particles in—Braid Friendly is the sensible choice.

Recommendations
Launcher SPM 12’
Accuracy and control at typical ranges; ideal for lighter Spombs and regular top-ups; also a great travel-light marker option.
Launcher SPM 13’
The same SPM responsiveness with extra arc and leverage; the 13’ will ultimately cast further than the 12’.
Launcher Spod 12’
Heavier action for bigger loads and long-range baiting while keeping 12’ handling.
Launcher Spod 13’
The distance-and-payload tool; widest arc and most effortless extreme-range performance.
