The Tench Seeker

The Tench Seeker 12’ is a purpose-built specialist rod designed for modern tench fishing, combining a forgiving semi-progressive action with excellent bite detection and close-range control. Description

SPECIALIST & BARBEL RODS

Delicate Bite Detection. Confident Weed Control.

A welcome addition to the ‘S’ Range specialist family—created at the specific request of dedicated tench anglers—the Tench Seeker 12’ is designed to capture everything that makes tench fishing so addictive: a forgiving curve, delicate bite registration, and the control to deal with powerful fish in weedy margins. With an effective test curve of 1lb 6oz, it sits perfectly in that sweet spot where the rod feels light and responsive, yet never under-gunned when a big tench tries to bury itself in weed.

Built from the same proven foundations as the rest of the ‘S’ Range specialist rods, the blank is produced from low-resin Japanese 36t carbon, delivering a lovely semi-progressive action that loads smoothly for casting feeders and leads, then cushions beautifully when playing fish at close range. While designed principally as a feeder/bomb rod, the sensitive tip also makes it an excellent option for float fishing, offering the kind of control and bite detection that turns tentative lifts into confident hook-ups.

The blank is finished in our Perdurable finish—meaning no paint or lacquer is applied after precision grinding—so you can admire the quality of the material for years to come, with a finish that won’t chip or flake as painted blanks can. The build is completed with a full cork handle, Clone 3k reel seat, stainless steel collars and butt cap, and ‘S’-Lite guides, giving a clean, dependable specification that will stand up to season after season of hard use.

Recommendations

Classic tench feeder/bomb fishing

Perfect for method feeders, open-end feeders and bombs where you want a forgiving curve that protects hooks and lighter hooklengths.

Weedy margins and close-quarters battles

The semi-progressive action gives controlled pressure without snatching—ideal when fish are trying to kite into weed.

Float fishing for tench (and more)

Choose the Tench Seeker when you want a rod that holds line nicely, registers delicate bites, and still has the backbone to steer fish away from cover.

A true ‘specimen’ crossover

Also a superb choice for bigger bream and chub when you want that softer specialist feel.

Weight note: Blank and rod weights may vary slightly from those quoted. We use stainless steel collars and butt caps for durability which will add a little to the rod’s overall weight but being on the handle should not adversely affect its balance.
