CTX Black Edition Compact Carp Rods are built for travelling light, moving swims regularly and tackling tighter venues where a full-length rod simply becomes less practical. They retain the crisp, responsive character that made CTX so popular, but package it into shorter formats that feel exceptionally agile without giving away the authority needed to fish properly.
That shorter length is not just about convenience. In cramped pegs, under trees, around marginal cover or when fishing from awkward banks, a compact rod gives you a real advantage. It is easier to carry, easier to position and quicker to bring into play when opportunities appear suddenly. They are equally at home in boat work too, where shorter rods offer far better manoeuvrability without sacrificing control.
Like the longer CTX Black Edition models, the short range is built on the same proven blank philosophy that made the original CTX such a success. A complex multi-stage manufacturing process combines Japanese Toray 40t and 30t carbon with resin content kept below 25%, producing blanks that remain slim, crisp and efficient without unnecessary weight. Alternating 0° and 90° layers add strength and stability, while Double X Wrap Carbon matt taping at opposing 30° angles helps the blank resist twist, stay truer under load and recover more cleanly after compression.
The result is a range of short rods that feel sharp and modern in the hand yet stay composed when you need to apply pressure quickly and directly. They punch above their size in real fishing situations, with the kind of control that matters when playing carp at close quarters or steering fish away from danger.
As with the rest of the CTX Black Edition range, the build is brought fully up to date with DPS-18 Black reel seats, black acetal collars and ceramic-lined guides for durability and smooth line flow with braid, fluorocarbon or monofilament. Finished in the same understated matt black style as the longer rods, they are compact rods built for mobile convenience, responsive control and far more capability than their length might suggest.
