Telical Carp Rods

Telical Carp Rods bring the proven Helical blank character into a far more compact telescopic format, giving anglers the convenience of a much shorter transport length without losing the feel of a proper carp rod. Built using high-quality Hankook and Toray carbons with the same helical tape lay-up as the main Helical range, they remain slim, light and responsive once assembled, with progressive power for accurate close- to medium-range work.

Compact transport length is only a real advantage when it comes without the usual compromises in action, balance and fish-playing performance. Telical is designed specifically to avoid those compromises, retaining the responsive feel, crisp recovery and progressive power expected from a serious carp rod, but in a format that is much easier to transport, store and carry.

The design centres around a telescopic butt section paired with a shorter top section. This creates rods that extend to either 10’ or 6’, depending on the model, yet pack down far shorter than a conventional two-piece rod. That makes them ideal where space is limited, whether travelling light, storing rods discreetly in a vehicle, fishing from a boat or carrying a compact rod for short, mobile sessions.

Crucially, the blank still feels balanced and controlled once assembled. The action remains progressive and responsive, with finer tips that help the rod load smoothly at short range, so casting feels easy and controlled rather than abrupt. Power transfers progressively down the blank, making the rods particularly effective for accurate work at short to medium range, while also allowing lighter lines and more scaled-down tactics to be used with confidence.

The range covers a broad spread of applications. The 10’ 3.25lb is the natural all-round short-format model, blending compact handling with enough power for most close-quarters carp fishing. The 10’ 3.50lb S.U. adds extra authority for anglers who want more control in weedy or snaggy situations, and during prototype testing it landed a catfish in excess of 75lb as well as large carp, underlining just how much power this compact rod can deliver in real fishing situations.

At the heavier end, the 10’ 4.50lb is a genuine heavy-duty option for demanding work, including heavier fishing, travel versatility or use as a compact spod rod. The 6’ 3lb is a true specialist rod for stalking, tight swims and close-in hit-and-hold work, where having the shortest practical rod can make all the difference.

In build, Telical follows the same purposeful, understated style as the Helical rods, but in a dedicated telescopic format. Every model is fitted with matt black ceramic-lined LS guides, a DPS-18 reel seat, full shrink handle, black Acetal fittings, black main whippings with red trim around the logo and a logo butt cap. The result is a clean, durable, all-black finish that looks smart, feels positive in the hand and matches the established Helical identity.
