At the core is the same main carbon construction that made the previous CTX such a success. A complex multi-stage manufacturing process combines Japanese Toray 40t and 30t carbon with resin content kept below 25%, producing blanks that are crisp, light and efficient without unnecessary bulk. The material lay-up is arranged in alternating 0° and 90° layers to improve hoop strength and stability, then reinforced with Double X Wrap Carbon matt taping applied at opposing 30° angles.
This construction is about far more than appearance. With unwanted torsional bias reduced, the rod converts power more efficiently into controlled, repeatable casting rather than wasted movement or wobble. The result is a blank that feels fast without becoming nervous, and powerful without losing its balance. Overfit joints help maintain a smoother working curve through the sections, so the rod bends more effectively and progressively under real fishing pressure.
The Black Edition build is deliberately modern throughout. Each rod is fitted with a DPS-18 Black reel seat, black acetal collars and ceramic lined guides selected for durability and smooth line flow. The guides are well suited to braid, fluorocarbon or monofilament, standing up to repeated casting and retrieving while maintaining dependable performance in harsh conditions.
Cosmetically, the matt taped finish remains understated and purposeful, avoiding paint and lacquer while helping reduce glare and minimise flash in clear or pressured situations.
